Johny Hendricks Says He Wants To Beat GSP’s Face In

The timing could not be any better. Former UFC welterweight champion George St-Pierre left the sport in 2013, after snagging a divisive split decision victory over Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendrix. After days of swirling rumors concerning Pierre's possible return, the three time welterweight champion officially announced his return to form in perhaps the coolest way possible, outside of wacky pyrotechnics and Evil Knievel-esk stunt jumps. Upon his announcement, Hendrix achieved an entirely new form of his own, as he tore his way out of a three fight losing streak at UFC Fight Night 105 on Sunday night. With a fresh division, new and improved 185 lbs Hendrix defeated Hector Lombard via unanimous decision. With some unfinished business in mind, Hendrix spoke to MMA Junkie at the Halifax post-fight press conference. “I would just say sorry for the Canadians. I’m going to have to beat his face in, definitely if he comes to 185. Because that’s a fight that I’ve been really looking for. And now that I’ve got a win under my belt at 185, he’s a newcomer at 185.” Unfortunately for Hendrix, George St-Pierre and his currently unsullied face are interested in other prospects. A hype inducing bout with UFC lightweight Conor McGregor is on the tip of many tongues. Though middleweight champion Michael "The Count" Bisping is eyeing a match with the Canadian as well. George St-Pierre has a heap of opportunity to get back into the octagon, with many looking to put him back into an early retirement. Who Pierre will ultimately face is yet to be determined.
