USADA Flags Another UFC Female Bantamweight For A UFC Doping Violation

Fight fans who thought the taking of banned substances was limited to just male fighters would be wrong today. And though it's very rare, females are accounting for only about 5% of doping violations in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Today USADA flagged UFC bantamweight Amanda Lemos for an out-of-competition doping violation in accordance with the UFC's doping policies. USADA informed the UFC of the violation and subsequently the UFC has released the following statement: The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Amanda Lemos of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on November 8, 2017. USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Lemos. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward. Amanda Lemos is a 30 year old Brazilian fighter with only one UFC fight on her resume. She made her UFC debut this past July against Leslie Smith, and she was stopped via strikes in round 2 of their contest. Prior to being flagged by USADA for an out-of-competition test, she was not scheduled for a return to the Octagon.
