The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was sold back in 2016 to William Morris Endeavor for a cool $4 billion. Back in 2001, the company was purchased by the Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta for $2 million. The 2001 purchase ignited the start of the Zuffa era of the mixed martial arts promotion. Since the 2016 sale of the UFC, pay-per-view purchases for the promotion's events have been on a decline. With the absence of UFC superstars such as Conor McGregor or Ronda Rousey in the year of 2017, this year has perhaps become one of the promotion's toughest, although UFC President Dana White insists that this is the best year in the history of the company. Now MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani has taken to Twitter to comment on the sale of the UFC by the Fertitta brothers.
