Set for the UFC 222 main event, a grudge match is brewing between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar, and mostly because Holloway has a sense of pride for his Island of Hawaii, and Frankie Edgar is the certified Hawaiian killer. Looking to capture his second division world title, Frankie Edgar hopes a win against his new Hawaiian opponent comes just as easy as all the other. However, Max Holloway kicked off the war of words letting Frankie Edgar know there's more than just a title on the line. Speaking to FloCombat, the two fighters traded shots. Holloway kicked things off stating, “There’s a lot of history between and Hawaiian fighters," Holloway said. "I’m going out there to bring one back home, and hopefully next time the UFC will bring my ass all the way back home. Fighting out in the ninth island of Las Vegas is nice, but I want to fight in Hawaii. First thing is first, and ‘The Answer’ is back up, and I got questions for the man. Let’s see if he can answer them for me." And Frankie Edgar responded in kind, stating, “ and I have history, but is just another opponent, man,” Edgar said. “He could be from Wyoming for all I care. It doesn’t matter to me. I know he’s a very tough competitor and he’s the champion. He’s been proving his worth as the champion and that’s going to make it all the more better when I go and get that belt from him. “If he has questions he’s coming to the right guy for the answers. I’m like Jeopardy: What is...I’m gonna whoop that ass. That’s the answer he’s coming to find.” UFC 222 goes down on March 3 at T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas. The fight card airs live on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
