R.I.P. | Legendary Frontman Tom Petty Has Passed Away, At 66

Rock n' Roll legend Tom Petty was found unresponsive and not breathing in his Malibu home on Sunday night. The legendary frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers passed away at the age of 66. As reported by CBS News, Tom Petty was transported to and put on life support in a UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. Petty earned a special place in rock history through his incredibly popular library of music with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The band's first record was released in 1976, with the band most recently having played a sold out show last Monday. In December of 2016, Petty told Rollingstone that the 40th Anniversary Tour might be their last. "I'm thinking it may be the last trip around the country," said Petty in December of last year. "It's very likely we'll keep playing, but will we take on 50 shows in one tour? I don't think so. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was thinking this might be the last big one. We're all on the backside of our sixties. I have a granddaughter now I'd like to see as much as I can. I don't want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that's a lot of time." Some of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' most famous works include "American Girl," "Breakdown" and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." Though Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released 13 total albums in their tour of music history, Tom Petty also released three solo albums during his career. Petty's popular hit "I won't back down" is also the familiar music that former UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman uses when he enters the octagon.
