UFC Females Continue To Deliver Ratings Records

Last Saturday’s UFC Fight Night event delivered the best ratings for a UFC event in over a year on FOX Sports 1.

The UFC’s annual SuperBowl weekend event took place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung returned to the UFC after over three years away to headline the event. He fought Dennis Bermudez and won the fight in less than one round by knockout.

According to Dave Meltzer, of MMA Fighting and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the show averaged 1.158 million viewers. These are the highest Fight Night ratings since last year’s SuperBowl weekend event that featured a welterweight fight between Stephen Thompson and former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks.

The show’s highest ratings came during the light heavyweight fight between Ovince Saint Preux and Volkan Oezmemir. The show peaked at 1.286 million viewers as Oezmemir pulled off a major upset when he won a split decision against Saint Preux.

Saturday’s UFC Fight Night also featured a plethora of important fights in the women’s strawweight division. Felice Herrig defeated previously undefeated Alexa Grasso in the co-main event. Jessica Andrade earned the next shot at the UFC title when she won a decision against Angela Hill. The FOX Sports 1 prelims opened with strawweight contender Tecia Torres winning a decision against Bec Rawlings.
