Michael Bisping will be welcoming the recently re-signed Georges St-Pierre to the octagon later on this year in a fight for the UFC Middleweight Championship. UFC President Dana White revealed the news on a Wednesday morning edition of “SportsCenter” on ESPN. The date, location, and event for this fight have all yet to be revealed.
St-Pierre teased free agency last summer, but the formerly retired Canadian has came to terms on a deal with the UFC weeks ago. Once GSP’s return was confirmed by White and GSP themselves, bookies released the odds for who they believed would be the next opponent for the Canadian fighter. Bisping topped the list and would eventually get the opportunity for the “big money” fight he’s been asking Dana for all these years.
White revealed that there will be a press conference with Bisping and St-Pierre on Friday evening.
Do you think St-Pierre should earn a shot at the middleweight championship in his first fight back, or should he work his way up considering he has spent so long away from the octagon? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
