Parry Pulls Out Of Another Fight… This Time Over Small Gloves

Chi Lewis-Parry and Hesdy Gerges were scheduled to headline the “Superfight Series” portion of GLORY 39 at the Vorst National in Brussels, Belgium, but the fight was scrapped last minute allegedly due to the fact that Parry’s gloves were too small.

Their heavyweight fight will now turn into a rivalry that will likely headline a future GLORY card as the beef continued to build throughout the evening as details surrounding the cancellation continued to leak. An original report from Andreas M. Georgiou‏ cited that Parry was ill:

However, things started to take a bizarre turn when it was revealed that the heavyweight was not ill. He took to his social media page to release a statement on his condition, making it clear that he did not withdraw from the fight due to illness:

It was later revealed that Parry’s gloves were too small. GLORY officials quickly found a bigger pair of gloves for Parry to wear, but he refused to put them on and fight once his tape was cut:

Dan Black is live in Brussels along with Xavier Vigney and was quick to comment on the drama, first reacting to the news of Parry’s withdrawal when he first heard that he fell “ill”:

When the news broke about the gloves, Black responded by saying, “Xavier gloves never fit either we just deal with it,” on his Facebook account. Vigney also added, “We deal with it every time. They never fit. With the exception of one fight.”
