UFC Wants An Even Bigger Cut Of Conor McGregor’s “MayGregor” Payday

The fight of the century between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. gets closer and closer to being made official as each day passes. Just a year ago, this fight was no more than a dream fight that mixed martial arts fans and boxing fans would never get to see. Now, fans and fighters alike wouldn’t be surprised if the fight was announced days from now.

Mayweather Jr. and McGregor seem to have a lot of the details already hashed out as the UFC Lightweight Champion visited Las Vegas, Nevada last month to hash out some details. Jeff Mayweather recently sat down for Helen Yee and shared that UFC is asking for an astronomical amount of McGregor’s payday. Jeff Mayweather may be exaggerating, but we wouldn’t put it past the UFC to start asking for money at this percentage just to get where they wanted to:

“80-20 percent. (Conor) would have to take 20 percent, if he’s allowed to fight. And the one thing is that Dana’s his boss. He’ll still make more money than he ever did, but at the same time, that’s very tough pill to swallow.”

“If somebody tells you ‘I’m gonna take 80 percent of your money, and you’re the one that’s fighting for it, that’s still a tough pill to swallow. Even if you made more money than you ever did. But, it is what it is.”
