On Saturday, the UFC hosted one of its biggest events of the year as UFC 211 took place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Two titles are set to be defended in the lone star state as UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic fights former champion Junior dos Santos and UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk fights Jessica Andrade.

UFC 211 featured a major fight in the UFC featherweight division as former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar fought Yair Rodriguez. The winner of this fight could be next in line for a shot at the UFC title.

Both fighters traded early, but Edgar seemed to get the better of the exchanges. Edgar went for a takedown, but Rodriguez stuffed it. Edgar continued to fight for the takedown and got Rodriguez to the mat. Rodriguez fought hard off his back but couldn’t manage to get Edgar off of him. Edgar then began landing hard shots on the ground. Edgar smothered Rodriguez on the ground. The round ended with Edgar throwing brutal punches and elbows while Rodriguez tried to fight to his feet.

Rodriguez threw various kicks to start the second round but had little success. Edgar then took Rodriguez to the ground. Rodriguez then attacked Edgar’s right let. Rodriguez went for the submission but Edgar escaped and began throwing vicious strikes on the ground. Edgar then moved into full mount and then secured Rodriguez’s back. Rodriguez changed the position but Edgar continued to brutalize him with ground-and-pound. Rodriguez was active off his back but the round ended with Edgar continuing to produce damage.

Inbetween rounds, Rodriguez’s eye was completely swelled shut and the doctor stopped the fight.
