Germaine de Randamie Reacts To Being Stripped Of Her UFC World Title, Says She Found Out On Twitter

Fighters wait their entire career for a chance to be called a UFC champion. It is the pinnacle of this sport, and an accolade very few get to acquire.

When Germaine de Randamie committed herself to the UFC’s featherweight division, and won the innaguaral strap against Holly Holm, she was expected to defend the belt.

Unfortunately, she took the road less traveled, and refused the rightful title challenger. This left the UFC no choice but to strip her from the belt before she ever got to defend it.

She may as well have never been champion. It’s a joke of a reign.

Now the former champion is speaking out on the UFC’s smart decision to remove her from the championship.

In a statement made to MMAFighting, the former champion stated,

“I had absolutely no idea that I was being stripped of the belt. I found out through social media. Cyborg (Justino) is going to fight Megan (Anderson) for the belt.”

“Nobody ever told me anything about it.”
