UFC 213: Laprise Dominates Camozzi, Earns Finish in Round 2

On Saturday, UFC 213 took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event was the final event of UFC’s annual International Fight Week.

Despite the main event between UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko being canceled just hours before the event, the UFC still hosted a full night of intriguing matchups.

Welterweights went to battle on the prelims as Chad Laprise fought Brian Camozzi.

Both fighters were not hesitant to engage with their opponent at the start of the fight. Laprise had better success early when it came to landing his shots. Camozzi began to have success landing his kicks. Laprise continued to land hard shots but that didn’t stop Camozzi from moving forward. Laprise clearly had a speed advantage in the fight. At the end of the round, Laprise got the fight to the ground and finished the round on top.

In the second round, both fighters came out swinging punches and kicks. Whenever one fighter had success with a combination, the other would retaliate with a combination of his own. As the round went on, both fighters were more hesitant to throw shots. The round ended, Laprise landing a leg kick and a jab.

The final round started with Camozzi being the aggressor. Laprise responded with landing multiple punches. Laprise landed a shot to the body that hurt Camozzi. Laprise then unloaded on Camozzi until the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
