UFC Results: Cummins Battered And Bloody, Still Wins Split-Decision Over Villante

On Saturday, the UFC hosted their 25th installment of UFC on FOX. The event emanated at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

On the main card, two light heavyweights fighters tried to prove that they belong with the best of the 205-pound weight class when Gian Villante fought Patrick Cummins.

Villante started the fight with a kick to the body. Cummins shot for a takedown and briefly got Villante off of his feet. Cummins went for another takedown and ate a bunch of hammer fists. Villante wobbled Cummins with punches. An accidental headbutt resulted in Cummins getting busted open. Cummins went for another takedown and failed to get his opponent to the mat. Villante began landing kicks to the body. Cumming managed to engage a clinch and got the fight against the cage. Villante fought his way free and landed a few punches. In the final 90 seconds, Cumming finally got the fight to the ground, but Villante got right back up. The round ended with Cummins holding Villante against the cage.

Both fighters traded punches to start the second round. Cummins went for a takedown to no avail. Cummins began to have more success with his striking. Villante landed punches of his own, but Cummins had no problems landing punches as well. Cummins went for a takedown towards the end of the round, but Villante stuffed it.

Cummins went for a takedown early in the final round, but Villante easily pushed it off. Villante then landed a couple of right hands that stunned Cummins. Despite eating punches, Cummins continued to move forward and threw punches of his own. Cummins began to throw more volume and got Villante against the cage. The round ended with both fighters throwing punches.
