Daniel Cormier Comes To Jon Jones Defense And Urges Fans To Give Him Sympathy

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier thinks that Anthony "Rumble" Johnson retired because he was made he lost his last fight.

Daniel Cormier has has been on quite the emotional ride following his UFC 214 fight with Jon Jones. The two had battled it out once before at UFC 182 with their much anticipated rematch constantly getting delayed due to Jones’ personal and professional issues. Both were finally able to square off for a second time this past July, with Jones scoring a brutal knockout finish over Cormier in the third round. The finish left D.C. an emotional mess. but nothing prepared him for the news that would follow when Jones was once again flagged for performance enhancing drugs by the UFC’s drug testers, USADA.

Despite the fact that the fight has now been ruled a “No Contest,” with their heated rivalry that’s been going on for years, Cormier is urging fans via his Instagram to go easy on Jon Jones and let him have his due process.

“Life can be such a roller coaster. I think sometimes you have to just take a moment and breathe it in.

You never know what’s gonna come your way. You try and handle it the best way you can. One thing that has been amazing is the support from you the fans. I have never felt so much love. It’s crazy because this all happened when I lost. Guys now I call upon you to take a breathe, lay off of Jones.

Let him and his team figure out what’s going on and what happened. I was down and some may have kicked me but the majority of you showed compassion and love.

After the fight Jones showed compassion, regardless of what has happened as humans we must show compassion. Jon is not on this ride alone, remember this man has a family. Let’s respect that. You don’t show ur support for me by hurting others. Again I thank you for ur unbelievable support and I trust that you guys will come thru again. DC ?@layziethesavage”
