T.J. Dillashaw Knocks Out Cody Garbrandt In Round 2 Of UFC 217 Co-Main Event

Madison Square Garden is already one title fight deep into tonight’s exciting UFC 217 event. UFC strawweight Joanna Jedrzejczyk faced off against Rose Namajunas on the night’s main card, suffering a first round knockout loss to the tough contender.

Now fight fans are gearing up for the night’s exhilarating co-main event, as UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is taking on former champion and former teammate T.J. Dillashaw.

Dillashaw was once a member of Team Alpha Male, alongside “No Love.” However, Dillashaw departed from the fight camp shortly after earning the UFC bantamweight title. Now the reigning champion and Dillashaw are in a heated rivalry, as the two fighters will settle the score in tonight’s co-main event.

The opening round kicked off with a bang, as Garbrandt stalked down Dillashaw in the beginning moments of the match up. Dillashaw attempted to establish a series of leg kicks on his opponent, bug failed to land on the fighter.

Garbrandt methodically sized up his opponent, as the fight continued at a slow but steady pace. The champion retained control of the center of the octagon, as the two fighters continue to circle each other.

Garbrandt exploded on Dillashaw with a flurry of blows that sent the fighter reeling into the fence. Dillashaw managed to eventually escape the exchange and return to the center of the octagon.

Garbrandt began pressuring his opponent again, but the two fighters avoided any damaging shots leading into the final minute of the first round.

Dillashaw landed a good body kick on Garbrandt, but the champion retaliated with a stunning right hook that send the fighter down to the mat. Before Garbrandt could follow up on the stunning shot, Dillashaw was saved by the bell. It was seemingly a dominant round for the champion.

The second round opened up at a faster pace, with Garbrandt goading his opponent with dance moves similar to when the champion faced off against Dominick Cruz.

Dillashaw did not pursue Garbrandt, choosing rather to take his own pace. Dillashaw went on to rock Garbrandt with a strike, dropping the fighter. The champion quickly rose to his feet and continued with a fast pace.

Dillashaw rocked Garbrandt with another tough shot, bringing the fighter to the ground again.

The referee called a stop to the fight as Garbrandt was on the ground, stunned from the blows.
