Tito Ortiz made Chael Sonnen pay for months of trash talk when the two finally stepped into the cage at Bellator 170 last Saturday night. This was Tito’s retirement fight and he made sure to go out with a bang as he submitted Sonnen in the first round with a face crank. In fact, Ortiz held the submission for an extra few seconds which prompted referee Big John McCarthy to step in and force him to release the hold.
McCarthy explained the extent he had to go in order to get Tito to release the submission on his Twitter account earlier.
“Because Chael was never in danger & Tito paid a price for holding on to long when I stuck my thumb into his Larynx. Trust me it hurt #AskBJM”
