As the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s women’s bantamweight division continues to grow, two of the weight class’ mainstays are on a collision course for a future UFC event. ENT Imports has learned that former title challenger Cat Zingano is expected to square off with Ashlee Evans-Smith at an event, date, and location yet to be determined.
“Alpha” Cat Zingano sports an impressive record with nine wins and is hoping to cross over into double digits with a win over Evans-Smith. Zingano, currently ranked sixth in the division, is looking to make her way into the top five of a division where top-ranked names like Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm are all tied up. With a win, she can make her way into the top five and in a way, the top three due to the inactivity of Rousey and Holm in that division.
Evans-Smith has not stepped into the octagon since September 2016, but her most recent performance was a dominant win over Veronica Macedo. A win over an elite name like Zingano could propel Evans-Smith into the top ten of the weight class. Who do you have winning?
