As the stagehands at Ultimate Fighting Championship set up the octagon inside the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is preparing himself for his co-main event scrap with Jorge Masvidal. The welterweight contest will get Cerrone one step closer to a shot at the gold if he can manage to win, but he is also on the cusp of breaking several records this Saturday.
Cerrone will be making his thirty-fourth appearance under the UFC banner (including WEC) and, as one of the busiest fighters in the company, it should come to the surprise of nobody that it will be his second fight in fifty days. If Cerrone gets the win on Saturday, he will have tied Michael Bisping for most victories under the UFC banner with 20.
If Cerrone can score a stoppage victory, he will possess the longest streak of finished fights among active fighters. He will be in great company with the likes of Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort if he manages to gain a stoppage, as the three would each possess a UFC record fourteen stoppages.
If he gets a bonus, he will pull ahead of Anderson Silva with most bonuses inside the octagon with fourteen, just one behind Nate Diaz and Joe Lauzon. Do you think Cerrone has what it takes to get all of this done this weekend?
