In the weeks leading up to his super-fight with Eddie Alvarez at “UFC 205”, UFC President Dana White leaked that Conor McGregor was going to reveal major news after his fight had concluded. McGregor hinted to what this announcement would be several times throughout the buildup to his fight, but once fight night rolled around no major announcement was revealed.
McGregor announced he was going to have a baby along with his girlfriend, but it was not the earth-shattering announcement fans had expected. At McGregor’s recent pay-per-view interview on Saturday the two-weight class champion revealed what the announcement really was: A supercard in the O2 Arena in March under the “McGregor Promotions” banner! Hear what he had to sy about the event below:
“You know, remember that announcement? I was gonna stand in the middle of that octagon and be like — I had a date booked and everything! I went and I [booked] The O2 Arena. I had fights and everything planned out in my head. I was gonna host a [MMA] show. The same way Nick [Diaz] did WAR, I was gonna do that. And then last minute, I was like, ‘Ah, just leave. You already have the two belts. You’re already in a strong position. Let’s just chill on it.'”
McGregor went on to explain that he may still plan to hold an event, as “McGregor Promotions” is still intact. What do you think of the news? Should McGregor follow through with the plans?
