On Saturday, Jorge Masvidal picked up the biggest win of his UFC career.
In the co-main event at a UFC on FOX event, Masvidal defeated Donald “Cowboy Cerrone in Cerrone’s hometown of Denver.
Masvidal defeated Cerrone by TKO in the second round. This fight saw some controversy at the end of the first round when it looked Masvidal had finished the fight by TKO. However, referee Herb Dean let the fight continue into the second round, despite Cerrone looking rocked as he got to his feet.
This win makes Masvidal one of the top contenders in the UFC 170-pound division. He is on a three-fight win streak with wins over Jake Ellenberger and Ross Pearson.
This marked Cerrone’s first loss as a welterweight in the UFC. In 2016, he picked up four welterweight wins over Alex Oliveira, Patrick Cote, Rick Story, and Matt Brown.
