On Saturday, UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor an interview in front of a live audience that was made available via online pay-per-view.
The interview was conducted my MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. During the interview, McGregor was asked about his most recent performance. McGregor went on to talk about how he sees himself compared to the rest of the UFC.
“I look around the roster and they’re not on my level Ariel. Those two other donkeys are fighting for that interim belt or whatever that sh** is, or Jose (Aldo), or Max (Holloway), or those other fools, they’re not on my level. They are not on my level. Roger Mayweather, f**k the Mayweathers, but Roger said most people don’t know sh** about boxing, but Conor McGregor says most people don’t know sh** about fighting.”
In November, at UFC 205, McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title. On that night, McGregor became the first fighter in history to hold two UFC titles at the same time when he held both the featherweight and lightweight titles.
Since then, the UFC has stripped McGregor of the featherweight title and is creating an interim lightweight championship. The UFC awarded the featherweight belt to previous interim champion Jose Aldo, while Max Holloway won an interim featherweight belt. Lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will fight for the interim lightweight title at UFC 209 on March 4.
