The Ultimate Fighting Championship is the pinnacle of mixed martial arts. Their roster consists of over four-hundred men and women all fighting for the same prize: The championship of their respective divisions. Some fighters are prepared to storm to the top of their weight class, but others are at a point in their career where they may not have realized their full potential. Often is the case that UFC decides to part ways with them for them to continue their journeys elsewhere.
Top-ranked flyweights Ali Bagautinov and Zach Makovsky have been removed from the official rankings and are no longer under UFC contract, as per MMA Junkie.
Bagautinov is a former flyweight title challenger. He is coming off a decision loss to Kyoji Horiguchi in November. Bagautinov’s only other UFC losses were decisions against Joseph Benavidez and UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson.
Bagautinov’s UFC resume is highlighted by wins over recent title challenger Tim Elliot and John Lineker. His last win came in June when he won a decision against Geane Herrera.
Makovsky is on a three-fight losing streak in the UFC. In December, he lost a split decision to Dustin Ortiz. His other two losses came by decision against John Dodson and Benavidez.
Makovsky picked up three wins in the UFC. He defeated Scott Jorgensen, Josh Sampo, and Elliott.
