At the start of the first round, Gonzalez landed a plethora of kicks mixed with elusive punches. Gonzalez eventually became too aggressive and was taken down by Cottrell. Despite Gonzalez fighting desperately to get back to his feet, Cottrell managed to maintain top position. Gonzalez was active on his back and tried to attack Cottrell’s legs. Gonzalez then got back to his feet and managed to quickly secure a D’arce choke and finish the fight.
