Alex Caceres and Jason Knight got the ball rolling for the main card portion of “UFC on FOX 23” in Denver with their featherweight contest. As expected, the feeling out process was nearly non-existent and they fired shots at each other right off the bat.
Knight closed the distance early and pressed Caceres up against the fence, looking for a takedown but “Bruce Leeroy” separated with ease. In the middle of the round, Caceres started to truly outclass Knight as he slipped Knight’s strikes without issue and constantly changed levels of his own attack, keeping Knight guessing where to block next.
The momentum shifted at the end of the first when Knight slammed Caceres to the canvas before taking his back, threatening a rear naked choke. Caceres was saved by the bell, but would end up in the same position at the start of the second.
With three minutes remaining in the second, Caceres was trapped in a body lock while Knight looked for the perfect moment to slap on the choke. It took two minutes, but Knight finally locked the choke in and forced Caceres into submission.
