Bellator MMA Loses Their Third Main Event In Just Four Days

When it was revealed that former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight Matt Mitrione would be welcoming the legendary Fedor Emelianenko to the Bellator cage, fans thought it was about time the Viacom-owned company gained some steam for their 2017. However, just hours before the event kicked off it was revealed the main event bout would be scrapped due to Mitrione falling ill.

Bellator still put on an exciting card with “Bellator 172”, however, their troubles with main event cancellations were far from over. Just two days later, it was revealed that Liam McGeary would be taking on Vladimir Filipovic as his original opponent Chris Fields had been forced out of their bout.

Now, Filipovic has been pulled from the main event bout making this the third switch in a Bellator event in just four days.

McGeary will now be taking on Brett McDermott this Friday at “Bellator 173”, according to Pete Carroll. That makes this the second opponent switch for McGeary within the past forty-eight hours for a fight less than a week away. Think this will impact his performance?
