Boxing Legend George Foreman Says Nobody Knows Who Conor McGregor Is

Conor McGregor is the biggest box office attraction in the UFC. He’s set pay-per-view and box office records for the premiere mixed martial arts organization in the world.

The UFC lightweight champion has been in the news as of late in trying to make a mega-fight against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Jr.. The fight isn’t signed but seems more likely with each passing day.

One would assume many sports fans would know who the Irishman is by now considering what he has done since he debuted in the UFC in 2013. Well, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Former boxing heavyweight champion George Foreman said in a recent interview that no one knew McGregor was until the talk with Mayweather started.

“The other guy, no one even knew his name and now he keeps flirting with the idea of him fighting Floyd Mayweather,” Foreman said on The Jake Brown Show. “He should take advantage of that and go out and fight 100 more people and wait until the Mayweather fight happens. He’s famous now. He’s almost a household name and he was not until the talk of him fighting Mayweather. It doesn’t even have to happen. I’m not buying anymore Mayweather fights. Best believe that. Not me.”

Does have Foreman have a point?
