The drama surrounding the “UFC 208” main event bout between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie is far from settled, it appears.
Holm was struck after the bell on two separate occasions and has mentioned that she believes de Randamie did it intentionally. One of the strikes impacted Holm so much that she wobbled back to her corner seconds later. Now, Holm will be appealing her loss due to the late strikes in between rounds, MMA Fighting reports.
New UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion de Randamie has since released a statement about the strikes after the bell, claiming that they were unintentional and she would be willing to offer a rematch for Holm. That rematch would further throw a monkey-wrench in Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino’s plan to prove her dominance in the octagon against the champion, however.
If this bout is changed to a no contest, the fate of the UFC Featherweight Championship may be decided in another fight. What do you think of the situation? Will she get it reversed?
