Fedor Emelianenko has faced a who’s who of the heavyweight division throughout the years. Despite never stepping into the octagon, Emelianenko has built up a reputation as one of the greatest fighters to ever live, and with his performances against the likes of Fabrício Werdum, Brett Rogers, Andrei Arlovski, Mark Hunt, and Mirko Cro Cop, it’s hard to deny. However, as the sport continues to evolve the athleticism that is necessary to have at the heavyweight level is always evolving.
Emelianenko will step into the Bellator cage this Saturday to take on former UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrione in a bout that could end up being one of “The Last Emperor’s” last bouts. Fedor revealed this week that he plans to wrap up his career under the Bellator banner. He told MMA Fighting:
“I would like to end my career with Bellator. I would like to work in accordance with my contract. Relations with people is of great importance with me. I value highly the relations with myself and Scott. So I do want to end my career with Bellator.”
