Floyd Believes Conor’s Power Could Translate To Boxing

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has decided to add some more fuel to the proverbial fire of conversation about the potential cross-promotional bout with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

The two fighters have been going back and forth for a while now. McGregor recently claimed that Mayweather was nowhere to be found when he visited Las Vegas, in hopes of meeting the boxer to discuss the bout.

Mayweather was recently interviewed by Showtime Boxing, in which he renewed hope in the cross-promotional bout.

The boxer explained why McGregor should not immediately be discredited by boxing fans.

“Because every time Conor McGregor go out there and compete and win, he do it standing up. When Conor McGregor did lose, he lost on the ground. He didn’t lose standing up. So he’s a hell of a fighter and he’s a very, very tough competitor and he has the will to win.” Mayweather said.

“The UFC gloves is no different from boxing gloves,” he continued. “They’re just a little bit smaller, but if a guy got power, he got power. And Conor McGregor got power.”

While the back and forth between Mayweather and McGregor has been dodgy at best, the continual relevance of the cross-promotional bout between the two fighters must be worth something. Perhaps one day the two will finally get the opportunity to meet in the ring.
