Former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre is officially returning to the UFC.
On Saturday, St-Pierre released a video announcing his official return to MMA competition.
“It’s official. I’m back,” St-Pierre said.
This week, St-Pierre signed a new deal with the UFC. He has not fought for the promotion since Nov. 2013. St-Pierre left the UFC as the welterweight champion following a decision win over Johny Hendricks.
St-Pierre is one of the greatest champions in UFC history. He holds the record for the second-most consecutive title defenses in UFC history with nine.
Overall, St-Pierre left the UFC on a 12-fight win streak. His win streak includes title wins over Matt Hughes, BJ Penn, Matt Serra, Jon Fitch, Dan Hardy, Thiago Alves, Josh Koscheck, Jake Shields, Carlos Condit, and Nick Diaz.
There is no official word on when St-Pierre will fight next, but he is accepted to make with long-awaiting return to the octagon sometime in 2017.
