Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva got aggressive with his training partner while sparring.
After his sparring partner landed a clean strike, Silva was no longer a defensive fighter and came out swinging. Silva repaid his training partner with landing some clean combinations of his own.
This Saturday, Silva will fight middleweight contender Derek Brunson in the co-main event of UFC 208.
Silva is on a two-fight losing streak and has not officially won a fight since 2012. His last fight came in July, at UFC 200, when he fought UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier on just two-days notice. Silva lost the nontitle bout by decision.
Last February, Silva lost a five-round decision to current UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping. During that fight, it appeared Silva had knocked Bisping out with a flying knee towards the end of the round. Since Silva walked away after he thought he won, the round ended and the fight continued.
In Jan. 2015, Silva won a decision against Nick Diaz. However, the fight was overturned due to Silva testing positive for banned substances. Prior to that fight, Silva was on a two-fight losing streak when he lost twice to Chris Weidman.
Silva last official win came in Oct. 2012 when he knocked out Stephan Bonnar.
UFC 208 will take place Feb. 11 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm will fight Germaine de Randamie in the main event to crown the first ever UFC women’s featherweight champion.
