Former top ranked UFC welterweight contender Rory MacDonald is enjoying a new chapter of his career under the Bellator promotional banner. MacDonald signed with Bellator in August of 2016 after leaving the UFC on a two fight skid.
At the time he told MMAfighting, “There are multiple reasons why I choose to fight for Bellator MMA and Scott Coker. One, they have given me the opportunity to develop and grow a business together. Two, because I already feel respected by the promotion as a professional athlete. And last but not least, because Bellator is offering a setup that no-one in the world can offer me.”
The move gave MacDonald the opportunity to take fights that he’d likely never be offered if he was in the UFC, including a potential fight with MMA legend Wanderlei Silva.
Check out what Rory said when asked if he was interested in facing Silva in the Bellator cage.
Someone asks Rory MacDonald if he's game to fight Wanderlei Silva this summer. He says "Let's do it".
