We haven’t heard much from Chael Sonnen since his first-round submission loss in January to Tito Ortiz at Bellator 170. Until now.
The former three-time UFC title challenger and Ortiz talked a lot of trash in the build-up to their fight. Sonnen spoke out for the first time since the fight and he still isn’t too fond of the former UFC light heavyweight champion.
“Losing to Tito is terrible,” Sonnen exclaimed. “Tito sucks. Tito is one of the worst guys I have ever faced. And he beat me. So, now all of a sudden, you have to have a hard conversation with yourself. If you’re going to go, look you want go out and disparage a guy that just beat you, you better be man enough to admit what that says about you. It’s a really tough spot to go out there and have a match like that.”
Leading up to the fight, Ortiz said it would be his last fight. Sonnen doesn’t believe Ortiz is being honest to everyone.
“If Tito’s retiring, I don’t believe that retirement is going to stick. But, he’s saying for now that it is. If he’s going to retire, why speak on it? If there’s no rematch or nothing out there, give him his moment, take your moment of defeat no matter how bad it hurt and move on.”
