In lieu of his UFC interim title fight against Khabib Numagomedov at UFC 209, Tony Ferguson’s also kept an eye on the happenings of lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
The two-division UFC champion posted on Sunday sent out a message on Twitter and “El Cucuy” took the time to slam “Notorious”.

McGregor captured the 155-pound title, scoring a second-round knockout of Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November. He seemed to dismiss Ferguson during his online pay-per-view interview as a worthy opponent calling him a bum, sloppy, messy and chiny while Ferguson thinks McGregor will never defend the title.
To get to the fight against Nurmagomedov, the 32-year-old has won nine consecutive fights including a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 98 also in November.
UFC 209 takes place on March 4th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Ferguson-Nurmagomedov is the co-main event of the show. The main event of the show is Tyron Woodley defending his welterweight title in a rematch against Stephen Thompson.
It is unknown when McGregor will return to the octagon as after the Alvarez, he declared some time off is in order since him and long-time girlfriend, Dee Devlin are expecting their first child in May. He wants to fight boxing great Floyd Mayweather but it is unknown if the UFC will sign off on the fight due to the organization having exclusive rights to his contract.
