This Saturday, the UFC will crown its first ever UFC women’s featherweight champion.
In the main event, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm will fight Germaine de Randamie for the UFC 145-pound women’s title.
Leading up to the fight, UFC commentator Joe Rogan gave his preview for this historic title fight.
“When Holly Holm fights Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship, you have arguably the two most decorated strikers to ever compete in mixed martial arts,” Rogan said. “In Holly Holm, you have an 18-time world boxing champion, and Germaine de Randamie is 46-0 in Muay Thai and a 10-time world Muay Thai champion.”
Holm is currently on a two-fight losing streak in the UFC. Last March, she lost her UFC title after being submitted by Miesha Tate. In July, she lost a decision to Valentina Shevchenko. Holm’s UFC career includes a decision win over Raquel Pennington and a knockout win over former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.
De Randamie is on a two-fight win streak in the UFC. She is coming off TKO wins over Anna Elmose and Larissa Pacheco. She also has a UFC win over women’s MMA pioneer Julie Kedzie.
UFC 208 takes place Feb. 11 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
