Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva was filled with emotion following his decision win over Derek Brunson in the co-main event of UFC 208. After hearing he won a unanimous decision, Silva was overfilled with joy and struggled to speak. After he regained his composure, Silva thanked all of his fans and those who were in attendance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Silva also thanked the UFC and his family.
“I know I’m too old for fights,” Silva said. “Guys in here are too fast for me, strong, but I put in my heart because fighting is my life.”
Silva’s victory does, however, have its fair share of controversy. Silva won a unanimous decision, despite Brunson appearing to have been the more successful fighter throughout the fight.
This victory is Silva’s first official UFC win since Oct. 2012 when he defeated Stephan Bonnar.
Brunson is now on a two-fight losing streak. In November, he was knocked out by middleweight contender Robert Whittaker.
