The UFC returns to the Great White North for a special Sunday UFC Fight Night event in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
In the main event, heavyweight prospect Derrick Lewis will fight his toughest opponent to date when he fights longtime contender Travis Browne.
Before the heavyweight throw down, featherweights Sam Sicilia and Gavin Tucker fight on the main card.
Tucker, the hometown hero, came out aggressive with the crowd chanting for him. Tucker used his quickness and leg kicks to keep Sicilia at bay. Sicilia struggled to produce any offense for the entirety of the first round. Tucker was quick and was able to land strikes and get away from Sicilia before he could retaliate.
Sicilia continued to struggle to land blows at the start of the second round. Tucker land leg and body kicks at will. When Sicilia would close the distance, Tucker easily dodged his strikes and got away. The round ended with Tucker continuing his dominance and tenderizing Sicilia’s left leg with leg kicks.
Sicilia began to have more success at the start of the final round. He briefly stunned Tucker, but he quickly recovered. Tucker landed the first takedown of the fight. He went for a leg lock but Sicilia escaped and got back to his feet. Tucker ended the fight being flamboyant while dodging Sicilia and landing kicks.
Official result:
Gavin Tucker def. Sam Sicilia by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
