The UFC returns to the Great White North for a special Sunday UFC Fight Night event in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
In the main event, heavyweight prospect Derrick Lewis will fight his toughest opponent to date when he fights longtime contender Travis Browne.
The main card in Halifax also includes a middleweight fight between two prospects as Elias Theodorou fights Cezar Ferreira.
Theodorou through multiple leg and body kicks to start the fight. When Theodorou went for a kick, Ferreira would close the distance and throw punches. Theodorou was the aggressor for the first half of the round. Eventually, he shot for a takedown and got Ferreira up against the cage. Ferreira was able to stop the takedown and get off of the cage. The round ended with Theodorou going back to his successful leg kick attacks.
Both fighters threw kicks to start the second round. Ferreira shot for a takedown, but Theodorou stayed on his feet. Ferreira later got Theodorou to the ground and took his back. Theodorou walked Ferreira, on his back, to the cage. Theodorou then reversed the position and got free. Theodorou later landed a takedown of his own. Ferreira went for a guillotine choke, but Theodorou easily escaped. Ferreira went for a second guillotine choke. Theodorou once again escaped. Ferreira worked his way back to his feet. The round ended with both fighters being more hesitant and picking their shots.
The final round began just as the second ended. Both fighters were more reserved and chose their strikes wisely. Ferreira went for a takedown, but Theodorou easily pushed him off. Both fighters went for a takedown which caused a clinch. Theodorou pushed Ferreira to the fence, but Ferreira got free. Towards the end of the round, Ferreira landed a takedown and took Theodorou’s back. Ferreira went for a rear-naked choke, but Theodorou escaped. Theodorou reversed the position and got back to his feet at the end of the fight.
