On Saturday, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino trained a Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, New York.
Gleason’s Gym is one of the oldest and most prestigious boxing gyms in the country. At one point in their careers, some of boxing’s greatest champions trained at the gym including Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran, and Paulie Malignaggi.
Justino is in Brooklyn to attend UFC 208 on Saturday night. Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm will fight Germaine de Randamie to crown the first ever UFC women’s 145-pound champion in the main event.
“Cyborg” is the current Invicta featherweight champion. She was also the first, and only, woman to hold the Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Championship.
For the past decade, Justino has dominated the women’s 145-pound division. She is unbeaten in her last 18 fights. Sixteen of her last wins have come by knockout or TKO. Also, eight of these fights were for championships.
Justino is currently serving a temporary suspension from USADA after she tested positive for banned substances in an out-of-competition drug test.
On Friday, UFC President Dana White revealed Justino may receive a retroactive therapeutic-use exemption due to the banned substances being in medication she was taking for medical conditions.
