UFC veteran Joe Riggs recently won a championship in Bare Knuckle Boxing.
Riggs won a decision to win his championship. BKB, is just what the name says, a bare-knuckle boxing promotion based out of The U.K.
This BKB event also featured UFC veteran Cody McKenzie, who lost in his fight.
Ironically, Riggs last MMA fight was a TKO win over McKenzie back in October for “Z Promotions: Fight Night Medicine Hat 2,” which is based out of Canada.
Riggs last fought in the UFC last February. He lost to Chris Camozzi by TKO. Riggs was released by the UFC following that fight despite only being on a one-fight losing streak.
Riggs is a longtime UFC and Strikeforce veteran with 60 total professional MMA fights. He has notable wins over Kendall Grove, Chris Lytle, Phil Baroni, and former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz.
Riggs is also a former WEC middleweight champion. He was at one time scheduled to fight for the UFC welterweight title against Matt Hughes. However, Riggs failed to make weight and the fight became a nontitle bout. Riggs went on to loss to Hughes regardless.
