On Saturday, Felice Herrig pulled off an upset when she handed previously undefeated prospect Alexa Grasso her first loss in her UFC career.
Herrig fought Grasso in the co-main event of the UFC’s annual SuperBowl weekend event which took place this year at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Herrig won a unanimous decision against Grasso. She is now on a two-fight win streak in the UFC. This win makes Herrig once again a top contender in the women’s 115-pound division.
Grasso was going into this fight on a nine-fight win streak. She made her UFC debut in November and won a decision against Heather Jo Clark. Grasso’s MMA record also includes notable victories in Invicta FC against Mizuki Inoue and Jodie Esquibel.
Saturday’s UFC Fight Night event was headlined by the return of “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, who had not fought in the UFC for over three years. Jung took less than one round to knockout Dennis Bermudez in his return fight.
