UFC newcomer Volkan Oezemir pulled off a major upset on Saturday night when he defeated former interim light heavyweight title challenger Ovince Saint Preux.
During the UFC’s annual SuperBowl weekend event, which took place this year at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, Oezemir defeated Saint Preux by split decision.
Despite whether or not you agree with the decision, Oezdemir is now a top contender in the UFC light heavyweight division.
Oezdemir is currently on a three-fight win streak and has an overall MMA record of 13-1. Nine of his 13 MMA wins have come by knockout or TKO.
Even though this loss may be controversial, Saint Preux is now on a three-fight losing streak. In October, he was knocked out by light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa. In April, he lost an interim title fight to former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
