UFC President Dana White has been a very close personal friend of former bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey, and believes she simply doesn’t have it anymore. Rousey was looking to reclaim her throne during her much anticipated octagon return at UFC 207 but was thoroughly dominated by the champion Amanda Nunes. It took Nunes just 48 seconds to finish off Rousey, and derail her comeback hopes and hand her another career setback.
Speaking to TMZ, White said what’s happening to Ronda happens to all fighters at a certain point, so he’s not too surprised about how everything unfolded.
“It’s no different than any other sport. When you’re a professional athlete and you’re performing at a certain level, the day comes when you don’t anymore. It happened to Ronda, who knows, why? This sport is very very tough. You have to stay at the top of your game. It’s a young man and young woman’s sport. Fighting, throughout the history of time, one day you show up and you don’t have it anymore. It always happens that way. You never know when it’s going to happen. It just creeps up on you. It’s a rough sport.”
Do you agree with the head of the UFC or does Rousey still have something to offer?
