Tony Ferguson went from nearly capturing the interim UFC Lightweight Championship to no longer having a fight within twenty-four hours. However, the lightweight contender is not going to let the fight cancellation from “UFC 209” keep him down as he already has his eye on his next potential opponent.
There are no bigger names in the Ultimate Fighting Championship right now than Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. McGregor, the current lightweight champion, may be sitting on the sidelines for quite some time as he is eyeing a cross-sport super fight with Floyd Mayweather. Ferguson knows a money fight when he sees one, though, and revealed that he has set his targets on Diaz
Ferguson opened up about the potential matchup on a recent edition of MMA Hour:
“I’m just throwing a name out there, but I think Nate Diaz and myself could actually put on a good show. I think his ranking is kind of bullshit too, but I don’t really see anybody else. I mean, Edson Barboza called me out, but it is what it is. Everything’s in the air right now. I want to fight for the title. I want a fair fight, I want to go in there and kick this dude’s ass no matter who’s signed to the dotted line, and fucking move on. And kick Conor’s ass. I don’t know what he’s up to, but lets just go.”
