Ultimate Fighting Championship made their way back to Las Vegas, Nevada for “UFC 209” and in an event that was filled with stars, perhaps the biggest star walking out of the octagon that night was none other than Team Alpha Male’s Darren Elkins.
Elkins performance against Mirsad Bektic on the preliminary portion of the card was a star-making performance. Bektic had executed his gameplan well in the opening two rounds, pushing a pressure that he thought Elkins couldn’t match. Even though Elkins was bloodied, battered, and bruised he still stayed one step ahead of Bektic throughout the majority of the fight and came out on top of striking exchanges. By the time the third round came around, most believed the fight would go to decision with Bektic getting his hand raised as there was no way Elkins was going to get finished.
Elkins kept pushing forward, however, and showed his warrior spirit when he sent Bektic to the canvas, out cold, in the third round. “The Damage’s” face was a mess, but his bloody celebration made for one of the most memorable post-fight moments in UFC history.
