‘Ferguson Isn’t Enough Of A Draw To Fight Nate Diaz’

Tony Ferguson had been training for weeks, formulating what he thought would be the perfect gameplan to counter the offensive skills of Khabib Nurmagomedov for “UFC 209”. Just a day before the fight was scheduled to take place, however, Ferguson was informed that Khabib was unfit to compete and their interim championship fight was canceled. After a week of thinking how to approach his next fight, Ferguson has called out the lone mega-star of the lightweight division in Nate Diaz.

Just because Ferguson was next in line to square off for a championship doesn’t mean he will get a fight with Nate, or so Michael Chiesa says. Cheisa opened up on the possibility of Diaz accepting a fight with Ferguson by saying [via. MMA Mania]

“Look, Nate is a money fight at this point. He’s a money fighter, he’s a PPV draw. Look, Tony, you are not a PPV draw, you’re not going to get a fight with Nate, let’s run it back. I am not speaking illogically. All these matchups I ask for, they make sense. I ruptured a disk, I rehabbed, and now I’m back.”
