“UFC Fight Night 106” wrapped up with a massive main event middleweight bout between the legendary Vitor Belfort and Kelvin Gastelum. Ultimate Fighting Championship questioned this would be the changing of the guard with a Gastelum win, or if Belfort would prove he still has what it takes to hang with the young kids in the octagon.
Gastelum took the center of the octagon early on, forcing Belfort to circle around on the outside. Belfort caught Gastelum off guard with a kick to the body before attempting a spinning back kick. Belfort connected with a left hand and Gastelum simply shrugged it off. Belfort landed a flying knee to the chest of Gastelum who countered with a left hook that colored the nose of Belfort.
Belfort was dropped with a massive right hand and Gastelum tried hard to finish the fight. Gastelum failed to finish it and Belfort fought his way back to his feet with just under two miunutes remaining. Right when it seemed like Belfort was out of it, he fired back with a stiff right hand of his own that made Gastelum think twice about ignorantly charging in to finish the fight. Gastelum picked his shot and dropped Belfort in the final minute of the fight to get the win after the referee stepped in to wave it off.
