Jose Aldo Gives Up On Redemption Match Against Conor McGregor

The mixed martial arts community was shocked when Jose Aldo was knocked out cold by Conor McGregor just thirteen seconds into their main event fight at “UFC 194”. The punch cost Aldo his featherweight championship and even though he regained when he dominated Frankie Edgar at “UFC 200”, he never got to avenge his loss against Conor.

Just moments after their performance, McGregor promised Aldo he would give him another go somewhere down the line. Since then, Conor has left the featherweight division to conquer the lightweight division and may abandon both weight classes altogether to square off with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the biggest combat sports fight of all time. It’s a no-brainer to think that Conor won’t be coming back to give Aldo another go anytime soon, and Aldo has finally come to terms with that. Aldo told the media during a recent scrum [via. “Well, I don’t think about McGregor today. I couldn’t care less what he’s doing. Like I said, I want to remain champion, I want big fights. If one day I fight him, great. If not, I’ll continue my life, continue being champion, continue being the same person, fighting and winning. I don’t think about Conor today. I only talk about Conor because you ask. F*** him.”
