Fans at last night’s UFC 209 event were submerged in disappointment when the promotion’s co-main event was cut from the card.
No. 1 lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov was set to face Tony Ferguson in an interim championship title match for the co-main event, but disaster struck just days before the fight.
“The Eagle” was unable to attend weigh-ins, as he was rushed to the hospital following weight management issues.
The match was cancelled, as Ferguson was not happy with the financial offers the UFC was making for his potential replacement bouts.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto recently took to Twitter to show just how much money the two warriors would have allegedly made, had the fight made it to the octagon.
“Khabib Nurmagomedov’s disclosed purse would have been $500k/$0, Tony Ferguson $250k/$250k.” Okamoto said.
