Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov suffered a major blow earlier this year when he was pulled from the co-main event of “UFC 209” after suffering from weight cut complications. His fight with Tony Ferguson was scheduled to be a five-round contest for the interim lightweight championship, but the fate of that fight still happening is still up in the air as Nurmagomedov should be returning to the mats to find out his condition soon.
Nurmagomedov was pulled just twenty-four hours before his fight with Ferguson after he was deemed unfit to fight. He made his way to the hospital in the early hours of Friday morning complaining of pains, and instead of calling the official UFC doctor his camp brought him to a local hospital that pumped him full of fluids.
Nurmagomedov’s father recently spoke with the media about a timetable for his return, and he said [via. MMA Professional Translations]:
“I think at the end of this month we will already start simple occupations and training and we will wait a little with the full training process.”
